Abbott Costello
We're Derek Abbott and Matthew Costello. Yes, those are our real names. No, we are no relation to Abbott & Costello, the famous comedy team. We have been writing songs and producing recordings since 1984. Having mutual interests in musical styles led us to an immediate and easy collaboration. In the more than 20 years we have been together we have written numerous songs and performed separately and together.
Derek AbbottÂ
Derek was a founding member of the AIR Band and later teamed up with bandmate Jim Robertson as the acoustic duo Abbott and Robertson. Known for his gentle, warm singing and precise guitar playing Derek is also talented in vocal harmony arrangements.
Matthew Costello
Matthew most recently played with Rodeo Clown and would often sit-in with Richmond favorites The Taters. He is a former President of the Virginia Organization of Composers and Lyricists and has composed production music for individual clients as well as libraries.
